Long Time no nothing!

The past few years have been a roller coaster for most of us. They were for
me, and in the midst of much action and much change, I've let these
newsletters go completely. I apologize for the silence.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes…

You will remember that I got married at the beginning of 2001. We were
married and were living in Utah through that year. In 2002, we moved to
Charlottesville VA, the place my wife most wanted to be. Even before that
move, though, things had begun to slip between us. When we got to VA, the
marriage fell completely apart.
I stayed in VA through August of last year. I had begun engineering at a
recording studio there and was also doing commercial music writing and
production for a company in that area. I was touring less and doing more
production and other musical projects, which I liked. But I'd loved living
out west and was missing it. So I decided to move back.

Coupe Studios

I was on my way back to Utah, when a friend suggested I contact someone at
Coupe Studios in Boulder, CO. I did speak with them and we really hit it off.
They hired me as an engineer/producer. Coupe is a wonderful facility (see the
Links Page of my web site if you're interested in checking it out) with a
staff that is talented, warm and family-like. I love it there. The work I've
been doing is varied and always interesting – from a cappella groups to
acoustic artists to full bands of many types. I'm learning a ton.

Boulder, CO

Boulder is beautiful. The mountains feel like home to me. They provide
opportunities for all manor of recreation. As most of you know, I'm a bit of
a fanatic about skiing. I get to do plenty of that. But the mountains are
quiet and solid, peaceful and enduring, and teachers of patience. They're
comforting. Just being in them is… enough.

More to come…

Given all of the changes above, I won't be on the road as much for a while as
I have been in the past. I want to learn more about production right now. But
I am working on a new body of songs and will record them as they are
finished. This will eventually produce a new CD and lead to some more shows.
Also, these newsletters may not come as often as they used to. But, I will
keep you informed of any upcoming shows, CD releases and other news in these
newsletters as well as on the web site. And…
I'll look forward to seeing you soon.

Cheers,
McVey
